What Poly Bush?

Hi,

I was just trying to price up some decent poly bushes today and found a scary price difference between suppliers. Also there are many different brands. I know to steer clear of cheap Ebay ones and especially the make your own route

My question is this; which brands good and which should I steer clear of? I saw a youtube vid today showing the failures in design of the Powerflex bushes on an MX5 and how these SuperPro ones are better because they are machined afterwards and have a textured internal section to hold grease better to allow the free movement from the crush tube. Also they have less material at the sides due to a 45 degree bevel. This did make the Powerflex ones look poor but then lots of reputable companies sell them. I can get a full car set of SuperPro bushes from an Ebay shop for £328.89. Is that good? Super-flex ones seem to be about £40 for rear leaf bushes so I think a full set would be around that price. I like the engineering quality of the SuperPro ones so will be going for it probably unless someone can tell me they are actually :turd:

Thanks

Hi,
I've used Superflex on mine. Most of the reviews I read on the internet concluded that they were the best, so that's what I went with. The Superflex bushes also have the grooves on the inner surfaces that are supposed to hold grease to prolong the effectiveness of lubrication.
I can also tell you from experience that it's very important that the bushes for the inner TCA are one-piece items. Some of them, and I can't remember which brands, supply two piece items which are sloppy fitting and I found that they contribute to front wheel wobble.
I bought a full set of Superflex from Martin at Caprigear for a very reasonable price.

Andrew.

I’ve had mine all replaced at the front and used Superflex. I got them from Burton Power as I was buying some other bits from there at the the time. The car feels nice and tight when steering now

I may be interested in fitting poly bushes to my Laser. May I ask if you found any difference (better or worse) in ride.

Hi

Definitely! Mine were so loose and perished the front wheels moved when you looked for play in them. The difference was noticeable straight away. The Drive feels smooth and precise in steering.
I reckon they’d never been changed in 30 years!

Cheers
