The indicators on my 2.8 had stopped working suddenly last week, done routine checks found the relay connector block had worked its way loose, so connected it back up & was working again...
Next morning no indicators again, so checked relay all seemed fine but when I wiggled the brown wire (earth) it worked so assumed faulty relay, changed for another known working relay though it wasn't a Capri one just a generic one, that didn't seem to do anything at all, (no red light on hazard switch)
The only difference I could see with the relays was the original had numbers near the spade connections where as the generic one has no numbers,
would that mean I need the correct relay for my car?

Re: flasher relay
Did you check the earth itself? If you wiggled the earth wire and it worked I would've thought that the earth connection was crap and to fix that rather than replacing the whole relay?
