Rocker cover gasket

I'm just replacing my gasket..and was wondering do you put sealant on both sides

I think it is standard practice to put these on dry, i.e. no sealant.

When Edd did the Triumph Stag on WD, he only used sealant on the side which sat in the cover.

I use sealant between the gasket and the cover, as it stops it trying to fall out when you're trying to fit it to the engine. And I apply a light smear of grease to the gasket face that mates with the engine, as it will help when removing it in the future.
