The Ford Capri Laser Page

I think my favourite is Shed & Buried at the moment. Those guys seem very genuine, are having a great time and I really want to be in their little gang! Who wouldn't want to do what they do. That Henry Coles has had one varied life. I think he's done everything except join a circus. And it wouldn't surprise me if he did that one day.

I have seen them all and now bored of the repeats Hopefully they will make a third series soon....

Amazing how much stuff some people hoard Much of it will probably end up scrapped when they pass on.

It's mad isn't it, why have a dilapidated barn full of classic cars. machinery, bikes and memorabilia which you have no intention of ever letting them see the light of day or restoring, just standing there doing nothing.

It annoys me when I see the old cars just sat there dirty and uncared for, let someone else take them on and use them.

My favorite Henry Cole programme is World's Greatest Motorbike Rides. I love seeing all the things and places that he visits along the way. Very entertaining and a bit different to either a standard car/bike show or travel show.

A quick glance on his Facebook page tells us that he is currently filming another one.

Wrecks to Riches wasn't bad, was on about 10 years ago but all episodes on YouTube as I watched them again recently, they restore muscle cars and upgrade the running gear etc.
On YouTube you've got 'Project Binky', better than anything on TV, lots of great fabrication, 16 episodes so far. Beware, if you've not seen it before you'll probably end up watching all 16 in one go.
Also on YouTube 'Engine Masters', 30 episodes so far, lots of back to back engine dyno pulls to find out what works and what doesn't.

Blaze And The Monster Machines.......its educational too.

Got through 10 episodes of Project Binky yesterday.... have to pace myself now as there's only 6 more to go right?
The quality of the work is very impressive.

Engine Addict with Jimmy de Ville is repeated tonight at 6.00 on Quest and hour later Quest + 1.

WD was far better in the early years when it represented the work you could do to a car in your own garage/workshop using basic tools, and hopefully sell on for a profit......

Later series where they started using laser wheel alignment, terraclean engine cleaning, and other high end machinery made it unreal for 'Mr Average'.

Some nice cars on the programme over the years, but less was more IMO.

Funnily enough, the Capri episode from the first series has just been shown on Quest. WD is showing it's age when they could buy a Capri laser for £400 and a Sapphire Cossie for £4100....

Roadkill is by far my favorite automotive show, from Motor Trend on Youtube, i have watched every single oen of the 50+ episodes at least twice.
I also have Amazon Prime exclusively to watch the Grand Tour.

I saw some of the Capri episode which made me realise how different WD has become.
Allegedly the Capri was the only car they lost money on....Just goes to show the last 10/15 years how prices have shot up

I suppose the general idea was, if you make money as we do then you can up your budget and invest in more equipment and better cars?
Nice thought, but in the real world can't see it being that easy

Not so, according to Wikipedia.
They lost £245 on the Capri, £770 on a Suzuki SJ, £2325 on a VW T3, £85 on a Mercedes 190E, £35 on a Range Rover, £75 on a Jaguar XK8 and £3107 on an AMC Pacer. Of course, as noted previously, the real-world losses would have been much more, as the figures shown on the programme don't involve labour or workshop costs.
To be fair to the lads, they've made huge profits on some cars, including £20,200 on a Corvette. Most of the losses and the smaller profits are from the earlier series.

I agree that there is a huge difference between the early programmes and the later ones. They must have had a much smaller production budget on the early years, as all the episodes feature down-to-earth classics that the man on the street could afford.
