MK3 Driver Mirror Mechanism swap

Hi All,
The pivoting mechanism unfortunately has broken in two inside my driver side mirror and needs replacing along with the cable actuators which control the movement of the mirror which have also snapped.
Is it an easy swap to just find a tatty second hand unit and just swap the mechanism over or is it not that simple?
