Well, after my well documented paint problem posted elsewhere on here, the be given up on it. The car needs a re spray. Tried to claim through the insurance but they didn't want to know.
So, I'm after someone who could re spray it for me. Would prefer someone locally ish to me but am willing to travel.
I live in Hornchurch Essex if that's any help?
I would like to try and get this sorted by the end of next month.
So, can any of you awesome people recommend anyone?
The paintwork will need rubbing down and started again. Sort a couple of little rust spots here and there.
Thanks in advance.

Why don't you PM Arya2.0S. He is a paint sprayer by trade and lives quite near you.

No mate. Water marks on paint underneath the laquer. Really annoying . Tried loads of things to get rid of it but to no avail.

Hi Steve. Sorry to hear your paint problems are still ongoing. Have you thought of contacting the chaps at Tickover to see if they can recommend a decent paint shop near you ? Just a thought. Good luck fella and please keep us updated on how it goes and any recommendations from you too. Always good to know of a decent paibt shop. Cheers mate.

I'd offer to help as i'm fairly local but i really dont have the facilities to do spray jobs to the standards i'd be happy with anymore, plus poor mental health and such i'm really not in a good place to deal with any kind of stress right now. Sorry.

I am no expert and you have probably tried this but just in case I will tell you what I would try first .

To me it seems that it all depends how deep the watermarks are in the paint job , I have jast done a respray on my capri and I also had problems to sort out after I had done the top coat . I had hairs in the paint also had a good few paint drips from the cans also had a good few runs .

I sorted it all out by lightly rubbing with 2500 grit paper wet then rubbing with buffer with rubbing compound , I did have to repaint some small bits that had went right back to the primer . What I would try with your problems it try removing one of the water marks with 2500 grit wet just to see how deep in the paintwork the watermarks go you might find that once you have removed the laquer and the top coat of paint the watermarks might go away . If thats the case then its a case of doing that with all the water marks then using a good rubbing compound with a paint buffer to flatten all the paint down then laquering again . Mind you I never used Laquer on mine I just used 2k top coat with every coat its amaizing what a good shine you can get without laquer just using top coat paint , 2500 grit wet , good rubbing compound and a orbital buffer . Just an idea but if you have already tried this and the water marks go right through every coat of paint then sorry but there is nothing else I can suggest . Best of luck anyway and please let me know how you get on . Cheers Alex

Just for info Steve, your car doesn't have laquer, that's apparent by the colour tranferring to the cloth when polishing, etc.

Hi Steve,
Sorry to hear that you haven't been able to rectify the paint issues.
If you do have a respray, I would suggest that you commission somebody who has experience in restoration, not a company that just carries out body repairs and paintwork. If you've got some small areas of rust showing through, you never know how bad it will be underneath the paint.
Good luck, and please keep us updated!

Andrew.

Right. New developments. Mario down at Autoart in Brentwood has said it’s possible for him to sort my paintwork out rather than a respray. He’s done a small patch and the results are remarkable! It’s going in for a full polish and detail next month. Costing a few quid but cheaper than a paint job!
Can’t wait now!
