Hi again

Could be a few things causing this.

1. Is the new fuel pump you fitted of the correct rating for the car. Carb engined cars only need a pump of about 3 - 5 psi max.

2. Most likely culprits for carb overflowing are a) Top gasket on carb knackered. b) carb needle valve not seating or stuck open or c) float in float chamber punctured or its height not correctly set.

I advise you buy a Haynes manual which will tell you how to strip the carb and reset everything correctly. A full rebuild kit with needle valve and all other gaskets for a 32/36 Weber is available on ebay for about £20 if you find you need it.

Hope this helps.

Stuck needle valve will cause the carb to overflow, some light taps with say a rubber hammer should free it up, but just get the carb rebuilt or get a new one.

Get a new carb because of a stuck needle valve? Really? Or do you mean get a new needle valve.

Probably best policy anyway if the car has been laid up for a long time. Have you got a manual to guide you? Be careful removing the horseshoe clip from the choke pull down lever as it's easy to lose them!

Also clean the outside of the carb before stripping it and work on it on a clean sheet of paper - it's vital no dirt or shit gets inside and blocks any of the jets.

I am pretty sure that I have a carb stripdown/rebuild walkthrough with pics, saved from a website which someone posted, before the Photobucket disaster. If you want that just let me know, that's assuming you have a Weber 32/36, you can probably find others around though.

If your running a facet fuel pump u will need a pressure regulator. Iv got a Filter King one. Your facet will be running a lot higher than the recomended 3.5psi.

My filter King one has a little gauge on top of a glass bowl with a filter in. You adjust the pressure by turning a little screw in the top
I KNOW MY CAR IS OLDER THAN ME......WHATS YOUR POINT???

It says restoration project on his profile, i assume the car has been sitting for more than a while so the carb is probably past its best as a whole?
If the carb is otherwise ok then no, just a new needle valve.
