Dear members
I have recently joined the Forum in search of help/advice.
I have a 280 which I try & maintain myself as best I can! My car has been recently coughing/spluttering when upto temperature & struggles when I accelerate hard. A friend who used to own an XR4i(Which had the same engine)has suggested it is fuel injectors that need replacing, amongst other things. I would be grateful if anyone could forward me any links to web-sites that sell genuine Ford parts for 80's Capris.
Thanks
Matt

Re: Parts suppliers
Before worrying about the injectors make sure the basics are OK - timing, plugs, leads, new fuel filter and air filter. Also check under the large banjo connector on top of the Warm up regulator as the filter there can become clogged and cause your sort of problem.
On the original parts front you will struggle these days for genuine stuff but with regards the injectors Bosch still make them and there are a few sellers on ebay that stock them. They start at around £35 each though so you want to make sure you've checked other things before shelling out.

I'd definitely have a look at the warm up regulator as Peter has suggested.

Hi,
If you're sure that the spluttering is fuel system related, have a look through this troubleshooting guide:
