Can't say if a fan for a 2.0 will fit a 2.8, but I'm sure Martin at Capri Gear will have what you need.

You have to check what thread size is on your water pump pulley. When I was looking for my 2.8 years ago, IIRC there's about 3 different sizes of thread just for the 2.8, dependent on what water pump has been fitted to your engine.

Hi,
I'm sure the pinto fan won't fit the V6 cars.
As stated, call Martin to see if he can supply one, if not the hubs are available to buy new.

I changed my 2.8 Viscous fan for BMW X5 Viscous fan, fits nice and cooling is quita a lot better,
I don't care if it takes 3 or 10bhb to cooling it doesn't matter. If it takes 10 bhb, why not
then give it 0.1bar more boost to compensate...

Orange, Capri's original and Black from BMW X5.
"Both 420mm" outside diameter"

Thanks for the advice, I also spoke with Martin who was very helpful. I'll probably need to pull apart the cooling system again to get to the bottom of my issues but it's going to be after Classic Ford at Santa Pod when I have a bit of time.

I fitted a new viscous hub to my 3.5 engine. One dyno session we tried back to back pulls with/without the fan and hub.
Could not see any real difference in HP@wheels. So losses look to be minimal with a good working viscous hub fan setup.
Much less than the electric fan manufacturers would have you believe.

^^^^ As you say, losses are small but in the drag racing world, electric pumps/fans are now std. Every BHP helps lol.

When we 1st had our drag pinto engine built, we took it out for it's shakedown run and it was as flat as hell.. After much head scratching, we noticed that the viscous coupling had seized. Swapped it out for a known good one and the difference was amazing!

Whilst working 100%, viscous are fine but electric can be more reliable.
