What is it

Hi just trying to find out what the aluminium plate is with a small component riveted to underneath of front cover between rad and front bulkhead,there is a wire coming out of it but not connected.

Dim dip headlight resistor. In the mid 80's some manufacturers decided that if you were driving with just the sidelights on then the dipped headlights would also come on at a lower level - brighter than sidelights but less than full headlight brighteness.

This idea wasn't used for long and most of the systems used packed up pretty quick.

Only the very late Lasers, 2.8 Specials on Brooklands had these. If your car is an earlier one then the plate is just one from a later car.
