Removing door cards

Post by Bracey »

Hello,
I've just been wrestling with this but haven't made much progress. I can't seem to remove the door release handle. Apparently it slides forwards towards the front of the car but mines just not moving. Do you need to pry at the same time or just slide? Any ideas on making it move more easily? Also there is a rubber strip at the bottom of the door. How do I get this off without damage?

Many thanks,

Dan

I was told once that those rubber strips at the bottom of the door are quite rare now, many cars have 'lost' them apparently!

Do you mean the handle surround? If so, it does just push/slide, can't remember which way, can be pretty tight though, cut myself once trying to get one off. There are locking tugs behind it, don't lever it off or they will break.

I just gently pursuaded it off with a mallet and a piece of wood. Always better to know you're going in the right direction before getting the hammers out! Now to see what the damage is as I've got corrosion in the door.... Thanks Pbar;)
