Capri timming

Post by Pageyboy »

Hi guys I have a capri2.8 and today I tackled the job of exhaust valves and done this without to much hassle however when I line up the timming mark to 0 my rotor arm points to cylinder 4 and not 1. Can anybody advice me how to get this pointing to cylinder number 1 ?? Any help would be much appreciated. I did take distributor off and turn it round but I don't think this was right so I have put it all back to where it was and still points to number 4

Pinto four pot fiddler here with a stab in the dark so I might be well off the mark but try turning the engine one full rotation.

The spiral nature of the distributor drive turns the rotor arm away from its starting point as it engages so it might just be you need to lift it out and turn it one tooth further round before re-engaging.
