I heard and keep reading about how bad VV carbs are, i got one fitted to LS 1600, and to be honest had no problems with it, am i just lucky

The VV carb is fine and does a good job.
Until it goes wrong, when it is easier to replace or upgrade it than it is to repair.
So, if yours is working fine then carry on. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Just bear in mind that if it does fail in any way, you'd be better looking at a Weber 34ICH as a direct replacement, or a 32/36 DG(A)V twin choke as an upgrade.

It could be worth keeping an eye out for a suitable replacement as Bug has advised for if/when it does go. Starting problems were the symptom on mine so beware if you get the same. Hours of checking plugs, timing, mixture etc. to find the fault.
A different carb - certainly the 32/36 DGaV will need the complete manifold & throttle linkage assembly to match off a two litre.
Having one in a box in the garage loft would get you back on the road same day rather than a potential wait of many weeks.
