5.5 wide and 8.5 deep. there free flowing so won't affect the flow Rate he said. he specialises in injector parts. will try them when they turn up

Hi,metalheaven wrote:found a guy on eBay just got 6 with postage for £22.50 . slightly shorter but assured me it will not affect flow at all. will keep you posted
If the filters turn out to be OK, please can you post a link to the items you purchased?
All the best,
Andrew.

Unless mine have been changed at some point and yours are the originals, we need someone else to measure so we can be sure which is the right dimension.

the ones I have put in are shorter. but the Steve assured me they are free flowing and won't affect the fuel flow. there is more surface filter surface area.

Re: metering head internal filters - woru have fuel issues
I removed some from a scrap leaking one in case Metalheaven didn't get sorted and needed some over the week end . They are the same as yours 7.7 in length .Cleaned them up but not really dirty at all and put them in my stash of spares .brooky wrote:Unless mine have been changed at some point and yours are the originals, we need someone else to measure so we can be sure which is the right dimension.

Hi Mark, brooky wrote:Unless mine have been changed at some point and yours are the originals, we need someone else to measure so we can be sure which is the right dimension.
If the filters in your mentering head are identical to the ones in the metering head you got from me, the chances are they'll be original.
I've got a couple of spare filters, but I don't have the means to measure the size accurately, sorry.
Andrew.

Yes Andrew, I have measured the ones out of mine and those out of the spare you let me have and both are as per the drawing I made. Just wanted to be sure that mine hadn't been replaced and the other head wasn't off something else as the part number is different but I think from the feedback so far that the drawing reflects the correct size

Re: metering head internal filters - can someone check their sizes
Just spoke to Steven from Mr. Injector about getting hold of some of these basket filters.
I've ordered some already, but also asked Steven's opinion of the difference in size.
This was his response:
"The reason why ours are shorter is that they were made for Bosch/Yamaha marine injectors. They are the only ones that measure up to 5.5mm.
We have put these in 500cc flowing injectors that normally have 14mm length filters with 6mm crush ring size, they flowed with no difference with swapping the filters over to running with no filters it still produced the 500cc.
The only difference is the amount of particles it can hold in the basket. I bet yours had hardly anything in them and this is usually the case even when they have had a 100,000 mile worth of fuel through them. Don't forget you have another large pre-flow filter that catches all the particles.
People have bought these before for the same application as yours and very pleased."
I was concerned about the size difference affecting the flow or some other function that my lack of knowledge prevents me even thinking of.
So although these are different from the originals it appears that the only difference would be the amount of filtering they could sustain before being cleaned (or replaced) again.
I have decided to replace mine, clean my old ones and keep hold of them in case I need them in the future.
Sorry for the thread resurrection. This is the type of thing that would have bugged me until I knew.
