Good looking 15" wheels
Finally starting to come around to the idea of fitting 15" wheels to the capri. Struggling to find many choices that look good though. Anyone got any suggestions? Nothing too modern or chavvy though, and definitely no Ronal URS rims
Re: Good looking 15" wheels
Brooklands wheels are the natural choice, Minilites look good as do superlites. But its all been done.
Would love to get some image split rims for mine. in fact that's the plan eventually once ive restored it

Re: Good looking 15" wheels
I'll be fitting a set of banded steel wheels powdercoated in flat satin black to mine when I go to change to 15". I don't know if they would suit the look you want for your car but I love the look of them and they'll suit the way I have mine done.
Re: Good looking 15" wheels
Why do you want to put 15 inch wheels on a Capri?
I like the way they look with the original size wheels

Personally i am fitting compomotive 3 piece 5 spoke 15" wheels to mine . They should look great. But otherwise brookland wheels look right on a Capri.

Re: Good looking 15" wheels
in my case the brakes don't fit under 13's and the rears need a minimum of 14". Hence 15"sheff wrote:Why do you want to put 15 inch wheels on a Capri?

Re: Good looking 15" wheels
That makes sense if you've uprated the brakes. The standard brakes aren't the best
Re: Good looking 15" wheels
brooklands wheels are horrid IMO. Minilites always look nice. I'm after some compomotive cx type alloys for my capri eventually but I have a feeling I'll have to fork out and make some split rims to get what I want.
Since I got a capri I've said "over the moon" a lot more than ever before.

I think that BBS-type cross spoke alloys look the biz on a Capri.

Re: Good looking 15" wheels
I used to as well. Really I think 14" would fill out the arches while having a decent rubber to metal ratio, but 14"s are so uncommon in nice-looking rwd ford fitment, and I think tyres aren't as well catered for either, so 15" makes a bit more sense than 14" without looking silly like 17"s so often do.sheff wrote:Why do you want to put 15 inch wheels on a Capri?

Not a fan of Brooklands wheels at all. Minilites are ok but a bit too common. The other suggestions sound good though, hadn't really considered bbs/cx style ones but they look pretty good actually. 3 Piece 5-spoke compomotives sounds interesting, got any pics? (if you don't mind me stealing your idea!)Jayman wrote:brooklands wheels are horrid IMO. Minilites always look nice. Re: Good looking 15" wheels
Good question, it would be nice to see a fresh idea regarding alloys or wheels on a Capri.
I love Brooklands, Minilites, and even 16 inch Escort Cossie but stay clear of fwd Ford as wrong offset looks pants.
13 inch banded steels looks look uber cool in my humble opinion........so on that train of thought, how would banded 15's look? stretched tyres?......
Wheels can make..........or destroy any car, I have 19 inch X5 alloys on my Renault Trafic van, they are massive and look the muts nuts.
Just don't go modern shopping trolly, I think 'retro' is always the way to go on a Cappa.

Image wheels do a 15" rs 4 spoke replica, but they are £300 odd per wheel before rubber!
15" RS 4 Spokes....yummy
Compomotive look great but hard to get now

Re: Good looking 15" wheels
I called compomotive for spare parts and they no longer support 3 piece wheels. Can only get another 3 manufacturer to make to suit!

Revolutions RFX's always look good on a Capri or any Retro Ford
Fronts are 8x15" rears 9x16" , will have to change to 18"s soon due to bigger brakes.

Re: Good looking 15" wheels
Definitely! A crap car can look infinitely better on the right wheels, or a nice car could look shit on horrible wheels. Imagine a Ferrari on 13x5 steels! I do dislike modern wheels for the most part but I'm sure there are some exceptions.timfromull wrote:Wheels can make..........or destroy any car, I have 19 inch X5 alloys on my Renault Trafic van, they are massive and look the muts nuts.

^ Those are awesome, I found some online a while back, but they were in the US, and the site was pretty bad so it was hard to work out if the PCD and offset was right or not. Never seen them on a capri before, any more pics? They look a bit like Japanese Rota wheels which is cool.drtdgg wrote:15 inch nascar steels on mine

I'd love a set of image wheels, but can't justify the price!mwillerton wrote:Image wheels do a 15" rs 4 spoke replica, but they are £300 odd per wheel before rubber!
Those are pretty cool, and demonstrate well that bigger than 13 (or even bigger than 15) can look great and still retro enough!QuadCamCapri wrote:Revolutions RFX's always look good on a Capri or any Retro Ford

Re: Good looking 15" wheels
Sorry to resurrect an old thread.
I'm looking for a set of 15" minilight style wheels for my car. JBW do some, reasonably priced too, but not as deep dish as the 13" equivalent.
Does anybody know of any company that sell a dished 15" minilight at a reasonable price?

Re: Good looking 15" wheels
If only you knew how many ours I spend looking at wheels... It would be quite embarrassing, I'm sure of that.
My favourite minilite style would be the Compomotive ML, but they're the most expensive solution.
You can go direct to minilite.
And there's the Rota RXR(?) which look quite nice.
Revolution do a classic 8 spoke design too, and they have a bulkier, longer look to the spokes.
JBWs seem like a nice looking alternative at a reasonable price in my opinion.
to get anything like the dish you see on the 13" wheels in a 15" rim you'll be needing a 9" wide, but they won't fit under the arches of a standard Capri. I'm thinking of going 15 x 8 ET0, but that's quite risky in terms of catching. Remember that the ET (offset) will affect the look/dish of the wheel as well as the actual dimensions.
Will they fit is a very good website for checking out how offset will affect fitment.
