Can you please tell me what it's worth?

Post by Lewis »

Hi I have a b reg 2.0 laser capri, blue, my uncle had it on the road for 7 years as a daily user and I had it for six months and couldn't afford to run and insure it, so it's sat in the garage for the past year, but had mot when it went in. The interior is in fairly good condition got a split and a rip in the dash board, it could do with a new set of wings if you wanted to be mint but aren't to bad, it has a dent in the drivers side rear arch where some Mong reversed into it, the front valance is a bit tender too and the rear near the exhaust, it does have the back bumper but I just took it off! I don't think it needs any welding done underneath
Thanks for your help
(Got a load of pictures but don't no how to put them up)

Always hard to guess what someone will pay for a car that needs a bit of work but I'd be thinking £800 - £1,200.

thats a nice capri you've got mate. it could do with a bit of work but what one dont. your front valence on the drives side weld seem has gone the same way as mine as it was rusty but then a paving slab accidentally went into it and has made it worse. i do like your yellow cam belt cover and slam panel (tea tray) you've given me a great idea for mine now as ive got a yellow cylinder block and im going for a yellow theme with my capri as its black and yellow goes well with black. :)

I wouldn't pay more than £500. I'm not meaning to be derogatory but the amount of work needed on that is far more than on cars I've seen driven away for £1000.

Hi

I seen a 1983 lacquer red 2.0litre laser for sale at the Enfield Pageant of Motors last year. Poor thing was just about hanging in there but chap was still asking £1,500 for it. Cheeky or what :) But with regards to yours mate, I reckon somewhere between 340truck and Peter-S...£650-£1000.

Like Peter said its always unpredictable what someone will pay for a 30yr car needing work, but the big thing going for it is it is a Capri, and cause the numbers are dwindling, and the classic ford scene is alive and kicking right now, some folk may just pay that bit more to get their hands on one.

Good Luck. Hope you find a good home for it mate ?

You could put it in the Cars For Sale section of this forum. Some people on here (e.g. Steve with name elliecharlie2008) buy and restore Capris.

Otherwise, the common places are:

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk

http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk

Gumtree

Ebay

Autotrader

etc
