Ok , so I just took it off again , swapped bodies and jets to the dgv after cleaning and blowing out the body , put it back on and it started straight away and idled ! Not had a chance to let it warm up properly and set it up yet but seem far better , I used the top half from the dgav with the floats on to save swapping that . Just need a manual choke cable now . The other one must have been blocked up somewhere . Thank you all for your help. Martin

Have you tried removing the filter under the brass nut by the fuel inlet.
Sounds similar to a problem I had once before.
Filter looked fine, but was restricting flow, so the float chamber ran dry.

Also, and talking from experience, the brass screw at the very base of the carb can be removed to expose the idle jet. I got a bit of grit in mine once, cause all sorts of problems.

Ah, forget that then!
If its the same top half then the filter must be ok

Just de choke it and will run lovely. No need for chokes and cables.

Did a full top end rebuild last night carb head cam the lot. Fired straight up lovely with no chokes, even ticked over with full rally cam no bother.
