Too tall for a capri?

Post by smokeyjo »

My son is six foot six, will he be comfortable driving a capri?
Is there enough leg room?
Is there enough head room?

I'm not sure about your son. Perhaps the best way to find out is to go to look at one for sale and try it out for size. I'm 6'1" and there's plenty of room for me, but I don't know if there's another 5" headroom.

Hi,
I'm 6'2"and a bit, weighing in at 25 Stone, I fit nicely.
Once he gets his technique down for getting in n out, he'll fit like a glove. Worst case, get one without the factory Sun Roof.
2nd worst case, if he decides he can't fit, you'll just have to use it... :P
Best of luck,
John.

If he's that tall, wouldn't it to be better to get a car with a sunroof, open it and hope it doesn't rain! :)

Some early models pre 1984 such as the 'L' 'GL' 'LS' didn't have a factory fitted tilt/slide sunroof and these have a little more headroom inside. Lasers had the sunroof as standard.

im 6ft 4 and fit in my capri nicely the only problem i have is for me i find my leg gets trapped a lot between the steering wheel and arm rest handle its uncomfortable having no room between them. i would like to take the arm rest out and replace it with something else if anyone has any suggestions or can you buy longer runners :)

Well I'm 18 years old and have a bad back. I'm 6ft6 and a little wide and I struggle to slide my legs in. But once there in it's all good and fun ;-)

I'm 6'8 and 23 stone - and it's a bastard getting into my car. I can't wind the window down once I have the door shut cos (as Dan says) my leg is pinned between the door handle and the steering wheel, no one has a remote chance of sitting in behind me oh and I have to turn the ignition key through the spokes in the wheel too cos I can't reach round over my kneecap - BUT I love my car, it looks, sounds, smells feels and drives exactly how I want it to and I wouldn't change it for the world. Happy days

Sorry did I forget to say that I am 6ft2 Andrew ( :D ) and got my technique of getting in to a fine art avoiding rubbing the outside edge of my seat. Loads of room indeed even with my Doc Martens on ! My parents once got in the back though and could only just about drag themselves out hee hee. Funny thing but they never been in my Capri since......

Well, I`m 6'5" and a bit on the wide side, you have to get used to throwing your left leg in under the steering wheel first, but once I`m in its fine, I did a couple of manchester to glasgow to newcastle to manchester runs once, it was quite comfy actually.

Im 6'3" nd use my capri every day. It is possible to rempove the seat and re-drill the mounting holes in the floor to blot the seat in. My friend who is 6'5" did this

This is mad lol! because im 6"1 and i struggle getting in my capri, I'm mainly legs, Seat all the way back and i still have to depress the clutch fully down with my left leg before i can get in comfortably, when im driving im fine but if i lift my leg off the clutch then my knee comes all the way up. Theres actually a photo of me in my capri in Germany and i look like a clown in a mini! and i'm only 6"1
