List of parts not in reproduction.
List of parts not in reproduction.
Hey guys, I'm trying to compile a list of all the parts that are no longer reproduced for the Capri. The point of this is, is I'm going to try and get some parts remade so I don't have to rely on second hand parts. I'm talking about things like fuel senders, rear washer motors. If anyone has any parts they know of that are no longer being made can you post it here so I can make a list. Also, if anyone already knows of a list already that would help immensely.

Have a look at Capri Club International, that's something they try to do and they've got certain items in reproduction already, although they don't do everything and there are gaps in the line up!
Sounds like a huge task - good luck!

Being a pedant - these are still available, though expensive.Terra-Kotta wrote: Parcel shelves.

Fuel tanks are in short supply I believe? Also senders.

The majority of these things are still made by the club.Terra-Kotta wrote:stevemarl wrote:Everything bar the oil filters I think.

They definitely make dash tops, passenger mirrors, parcel shelves, heater motors, wings.
Sunroof winder I don't think they do and the centre console lid.

Thanks man. Yeah, I'm glad the Capri club do this. I'm going to hopefully try and fill in the gaps. It is all just an idea at the moment and have no idea who would manufacture these, or how much this would cost...I'm guessing quite a bit but I'm going to have a look into it.
Yeah, senders they don't. I thought fuel tanks were still being reproduced, but I've had a quick scan and can't find them.stevemarl wrote:Being a pedant - these are still available, though expensive.Terra-Kotta wrote: Parcel shelves.

Re: List of parts not in reproduction.
A proper company came on here a couple of years back with a view to making tanks but they wanted confirmed orders before they would shell out for the cost of tooling. I think they tried the CP forum as well but there was insufficient response so nothing happened. Sadly this scenario is the same with many parts. Even something small like a sun roof handle - how many will you need to sell to get your money back.Jim wrote: I thought fuel tanks were still being reproduced, but I've had a quick scan and can't find them.
I applaud you for thinking about it but I would suggest that CCI already have a finger on the viable product lines and the realistic product options are very limited.

Yeah, I totally see what you are saying. Just need to get more people into restoring Capri's to bring up demand haha. I'm going to have a look about and if the opportunity arises, then I will take it...even if it means hanging on for a while before the parts are sold.Peter-S wrote:A proper company came on here a couple of years back with a view to making tanks but they wanted confirmed orders before they would shell out for the cost of tooling. With plastic parts like sunroof handles, I think 3D printing may be the answer there...if they can make working guns, they can damn well make a sunroof handle.
They still do steel front valences here:c.turff wrote:Steel front valences! Only fibreglass available now

Hi,
This is an interesting and commendable venture and I wish you every success with it.
One piece of advice.....take confirmed orders and deposits before buying in stock.
All the best,
Andrew.

As I recall, the company needed 100 confirmed orders to initiate the production of new tanks. There was great interest, but when it came to people paying the money..........only around six deposits were taken. Sadly, nothing came of it in the end.Peter-S wrote:A proper company came on here a couple of years back with a view to making tanks but they wanted confirmed orders.

BLANK VIN PLATE FOR SLAM PANEL IN ENGINE BAY
These are really hard to come by nowadays and those that do appear (like magic) end up selling on ebay for silly money due to high demand for the little beauties !
CONCLUSION= Lots will sell at afFORDable price

I vote for affordable alloy 2 litre blocks. Alloy CNC machined heads. Steel rods and cranks that ain't silly money. Flywheels. Distributors. Dgas carb kits. Inlets. Alloy rockers that don't leak. Titanium pulleys. All bits for two litres.

He asked for a list of what isn't in production, not what is already made but people cannot afford.

I think Ford screwed that with a copyright issue although odd ones magically appear once in a while!Fordoholic Nick wrote:BLANK VIN PLATE FOR SLAM PANEL IN ENGINE BAY

Re: List of parts not in reproduction.
I doubt that it's viable for the 'common man' to remanufacture Capri parts. The cost of the tooling alone would be a fortune. And the minimum order quantities to get the item costs down would be far too high to keep stock and/or sell them on. It's pretty incredible really that the Capri Club actually achieves this. Hats off to them.
Re: List of parts not in reproduction.
I think DMB graphics may be able to help with this. They produce loads of retro Ford decals and dealer plates...so I can't see why they can't print some writing on a small piece of metal.Peter-S wrote:I think Ford screwed that with a copyright issue although odd ones magically appear once in a while!Fordoholic Nick wrote:BLANK VIN PLATE FOR SLAM PANEL IN ENGINE BAY

Check them out and get in contact with them.
It's in there own interests considering how much money they are selling for on ebay and the demand for them.
Re: List of parts not in reproduction.
jokes aside, ,I have some that are a truly crappy copy on my Laser. Very disappointing fit- I am going to try warming them up and closing down the profile a bit so they grip better.rich_jc wrote:Shaped gutter trims, please, shaped gutter trims.
