General consensus on my new bonnet?

Post by vp-reynolds4 »

Okay first let me state the obvious.
I just kind of want to show it off to people and you must also realise I'm still very much a complete mad looney.

Now the important bit, no I didn’t mod my own bonnet and I will keep the original one to "un-loon" my car if the time calls for it.
I got the bonnet for free so I didn’t go wasting any money on such thing.

I know it's not to the majority of taste but in recognition it will have the side vents removed,
holes patched, sprayed the same dark blue as my car
and is interchangeable at anytime with stock.
So what do you all think? Am I totally off the wall or will it pass up as decent enough maybe?

BTW its mounted in such a way on rags as I just drove 20 miles at 25mph with hazzards like that to get it home this evening.

Not my cup of tea personally but each to his own I say...... And there's a certain 80's kid not too far from me who'll pop up here in favour very soon no doubt - exactly what he's been looking for from what I gather ;)

Hi,
Isn't the power bulge on the bonnet big enough already?

I started to make a bonnet with the bulge removed on the terra. It never got finished. I don't think it would have cleared the cam pulley.

What the F **k are some people thinking of with what they are doing to "personalise" the Capri.Surely there must be Saxos and Corsas around that would be better suited to this kind of butchery.
With ever declining numbers of Capris why inflict this kind of vandalism on them??. Maybe 20 years ago it didn't matter as there were plenty of them still around, not any more.

With regards to the standard bulge how many times you hear "it's a three litre. Look it's got the bulge". That's why I wanted to remove mine altogether.

Capri gear good god and get a grip. Did I just not get through saying that I would be keeping my original bonnet? Even to have it resprayed with the car and scooped bonnet this summer? Does my car even look butchered to you because from as far as I can tell everything is stock.

To now add a large slap to your burn. Whilst you were wittering on about “declining numbers” were you not one of the people putting me of repairing a minor crash damage Capri?

One thing I am unbeatable on and take pride in is my non permanent modifications. Not one single mod in or on my Capri would leave a single lick of damage to the originality, not even screw holes. So Mr. "supposed to be a professional business man" your opinion or advice is welcome but a bash will receive one in return.

Hi,
To be fair, VP, you have posted photos on a public forum asking for a 'general consensus'.
The public have reached a consensus and delivered their verdict..... :)

Hi vp

Dont let em wind you up lol. Every decade since the 2000's peoplr have souped up fords (rory gallagher did a good song) and made hot rods or whatever out of them. Not everyone likes em but there are many who do.

I love everything american so im going for the muscle car look or hot rod look. I want a head turning car where people can see its a capri but its so much different.

I want big and loud. I think that bonnet is great and i would of ripped a mans arm off if he offered it me.

As you say everything you do to it can be reversed so no harm done, its your car.
