It would appear after 750 miles of use, my car has started leaking oil quite badly from what looks to be the gear box. Does anyone know which seals/areas typically go on Capri's just so I have a starting point. I'm pretty gutted to find all this after putting in hours of work to get it running again to find yet another thing!
Cheers,
Josh.

Re: Car marking its territory.
Hi,
Could it be the rear crankshaft seal leaking into the bellhousing?
All the best,
Andrew.

It's common for the rear gearbox seal to leak, where the propshaft goes in. Sometimes there is a 'spray' from the oil in that area.

Re: Car marking its territory.
Just had another look. Seems to be predominantly on the drivers side, and more towards the front of the box. Is removing the gearbox a fairly straightforward job - could anyone give an estimate as to time scales for removing the box?
Interestingly, I've just noticed a bolt missing from the bell housing too. Dread to know the story behind that.
Also I'm taking it that this the oil plug for topping up/checking levels?
Thanks for all the replies so far guys, its nice to have a bit of support when your stuck!

Yes that's the refill plug. I bought a 'key' for that just last week from my local car shop as I wanted to check mine. I assume your local car shop can get them in also, although they had mine on the shelf.

Worth having a look at the rocker cover. If the rear bolts on that are not tight enough oil will run down the back of the engine and onto the gearbox.
