It's not a Vauxhall Insignia is it?
I had to move one at work the other week and hated every one of the 20 seconds I was driving it!
Well actually it was 2 hours and 20 seconds after I worked out how to take the handbrake off!

Andrew.

Hi,
You don't need ESP, just avoid anyone in a Kia! :)

Emailed a few places but one got back to me not to far from me. Its a sign writing place. They said im lookin at 800 quid but he wants to see the car to see what he has to do to the body work so its a smooth suface. Theres only the back wheel arch really that has slight bubbling.

Hopefully take it for him to look and get a proper quote. Im hoping he can show me the design on the computer to.

There`s a thread about it here: (I assume it`s OK to link to the dark side?)
http://www.capripower.co.uk/forum/index ... ge__st__40

My understanding is that it does only last for a couple of years though?
(Also, just thought - you may not be able to access page if you`re not logged in /a member?)

Hi,
The page cannot be accessed by non-registered visitors. Can someone post a synopsis on here?

One company got back to me saying they do it and a rough price was between 800 and a grand but he wants to see the bodywork to see how much prepping it needs as they need a smooth surface all over.

Im not at work tomoz and im hoping to go up and ask a few questions

How long does it last

Does it damage the paint work

Can u wash it like a normal car etc

Ill put up the answers up when i no

Right then i went to the shop today and he took a few pics of the car which he will put designs on the computer and see which i like.

The cost will be 800 quid for it but it depends how much i mess him about with the design idea. I need to get the rusty and bumpy bits flattened and sorted out before hand.

You can wash it like a normal painted car

The place im using uses vinyl garunteed for ten years but obviously have to take in consideration of wear and tear eg stone chips and the sun bleachin the colour over the years.

He said it can withstand high temp but if the engine was to overheat it could alter the colour of the vinyl but he hasnt seen it done yet.

He put abit of vinyl on my car to show me any dips etc will show up in the vinyl but that cant be helped.

So now i have to save up 800 of the queens english pounds.

Hi,
Are you still going for the black with flames?
The £800 quoted is not a lot of money when compared to the cost of a respray.
How thick is the vinyl sheet? Can it protect against the car being keyed? Can it be easily peeled off? Not so good if you park the car on the road at night.

Obviously it won't be as good as a proper paint job mate but what he showed me and looking at the vans he had in it looked decent. If someone keys the car it'll scratch no matter what you use but for stone chips and general wear and tear its pretty durable.

I'd rather pay the 800 than 3500 if I get a few years out of it ill be happy.

He took some pics of my car and he is going to email the designs to see if I like it. Kind of like the one you put on lol. Ill try put the pics up if he does that.

I'm a few hundred quid short atm but I'm hoping to do it this summer sometime :)

Hi,
That rubber coating spray is available in clear, too. I wonder if it might be possible to use it to protect the front valance and sills from stonechip damage. Has anyone tried it for that purpose?

That`s a good idea! Just for lower, less visible but more vulnerable areas....plus if it`s no good, aesthetically - you can just peel it off. Might look into that.

Yes, exactly those areas. Tried on a small, inconspicuous area of paintwork first, of course!
Might be worth a try at £8 a pop, let us know how well it works!
