I've just re-built my engine, with new rings, core plugs gaskets etc....
But I've now got a massive problem in that coolant is getting into my sump somehow!
I know the head gasket is good, and fitted properly as the engine runs sweet as a nut, without any coolant, I'm thinking that it's got something to do with timing gear cover.
Anyone got any ideas? or had a similar problem??

Have a look on the third page of my project 2.8 for coroded sleeves to the water jacket. Could that be the problem you have?gilley576 wrote:I've just re-built my engine, with new rings, core plugs gaskets etc....

Hi,
I have heard that the oil cooler can corrode on the inside if incorrect spec coolant has been used.
If correct, this may allow the water into the oil. Something to check, I suppose, if all else fails to find the solution.
All the best,
Andrew.

Inlet manifold! I filled my whole block once just after a rebuild.

Agreed! Got to be first point of call.Matty2148 wrote:Inlet manifold! I filled my whole block once just after a rebuild.
Another case of overlooking something you've just disturbed.
As the inlet manifold forms on side of the cylinder head it is notoriously difficult to get it sealed right. Have another look.

Found out it was the timing gear cover. The gasket didnt sit right so the coolant outlet/inlet from the block wasn't sealing to the cover and pump.
