Hi has anyone got any info on the following car? The plates were on a Brooklands 280 that my father owned back in the late 80's and early 90's.

I also have the cars identity number with lots of other paperwork for the car.

Thanks
Ben

I owned E280 JYT for about 9 month 2 years ago, bought it off a guy in Enfield, sold it to a guy in suxxex/surry. Saw it on ebay about nine months ago, don't know where it went after that.

Thanks for that, the car looks very similar to when my dad owned it 20 odd years ago! the car originally had the E286 RKR plate and was changed to E280 JYT around 1990!

any info that may lead to the owner will be great; I have lots of the original paperwork, including service book!

Have to say that the car has some interesting history that I can provide info on to the current owner!

Thanks
Ben

Hi Ben
From what I was told the JYT plate belonged to someone that worked on top gear, is there any truth in that?

Gary there is no truth in that - the plate was on another E plate brooklands 280 prior to this which was one of my dads friends cars he sold that car to buy a F plate car and didn't want to put an E plate on a F plate car. Therefore my dad put it on his.

Is the a register of these cars about? or another forum that is worth asking about?

Thanks
Ben

It's odd how the 280 I stripped and broke up for parts with a totalled shot shell is now back on the road?!?!? I nearly fell off my chair. Another 2.8i reshell then with only the engine being the original part.

Hi,

So, did you sell the V5 then?

Andrew.

I sold the very rotten shell that was way way way beyond saving with the v5. No laws broken here! :ebay:

Hi,

I'm not suggesting that an honest and trustworthy citizen, such as yourself, would ever break the law.
Just to be nosey, how much did you get for the V5, er, I mean the shell?
There was one on Ebay recently for £1500.

Andrew.

I paid £300 for a complete 280. Recovery costs were zero as it was about 12 doors down from me. A few characters got upset.
I sold.....

Interior £900
Wheels £300
Axle. £450.
I sold the shell with engine and box for £300.

And that to date was the last Capri I broke I think. Still had the stickers on screen (old style police aware) northants police dated in 1993. It was in a damp garage a long long time. Car was rotten and battered but interior was mint.

Hi,

Interesting to see what the parts were selling for back then!

Considering that was over twenty years ago, they don't fetch that much more now.

Andrew.
