Twin exhaust Pinto

Post by dgb1320 »

Hi Capri fans, I am new to the forum and i suspect this wont be the only request for help I'll make, I am restoring a 1.6 Laser she was due for scrap having failed MOT on rot in rear spring areas failed springs etc ...spent last 12 months welding up floor chassis and front inner wing areas and scuttle (I'm sure you all know the places)...now I need some experienced advise..
1) Considering fitting twin pipe exhaust system as stocked by CCI, I am looking at Asthetics and a nice sound, has anyone any experience/opinion of these please and perhaps a cheaper option than CCI?
Also I shall need the Hanger brackets (1 x double 2 x single) if anyone can help.
Thanks for any reply

Daisy has this fitted to her pinto.

Looks great and sounds pretty good too, can't beat twin pipes out the back of a capri.

The problem is that the gas will take the path of least resistance which will make one pipe look dirtier than the other. Shows up more if you have the chrome ends on the pipes. If you keep them clean it will look fine.

Also post some pics up of the car and the work you have been doing, would be good to see.

If you use photobucket you can just copy and paste the image link into the post and it will come up when viewed.

If you use the search function on the forum and search for posting photos there will be a much more in depth description of how to do it.

That looks great.

I might have got rid of the 2-1-2 part and just joined the 2 pipes from the manifold to the 2 pipes of the exhaust.

I thought of doing that sort of thing by connecting 2 cylinders to each side.

I've got stainless y pieces that mates up to pair of 2.8 exhausts

The y piece is 60 quid

This was it when I first got it, was fitted to a 4 branch manifold

I might have the full system avaliable too. At extra cost but haven't decided what exhaust to fit to me new engine yet

Hey, yeah mine was CCI about 7 years ago. And while one is dirtier than the other, it's not that noticeable :) Will see if I can find a picture...

I gotta say, as someone who previously cringed at the idea of twin tailpipes on a pinto capri, I didn’t mind Daisys setup. Looked & sounded decent. I still think it’s going down the sheep-in-wolfs-clothing though..

I’d rather see a V8 with a pea shooter 8-)

Hi Daisey thanks for taking the time to attach that...sounds good and I shall be fitting twin system.

I note you're not far away from me (Norwich) some time 2014 I'll show u mine!!

Can I ask what have you done to raise your BHP, I want to be able to afford driving her but happy to do small improvements to increase bhp if practical

Thanks again
