Painting Cylinder head?

Post by DaveSimpy »

Hi Everyone,

Got the head off at the replace the cam. Painted rocker cover, gonna do the cam pulley etc.

Thought about doing the head as I have cleaned all the old gunk off. Any particular paint required? Heat proof paint required?

Cheers, Dave

I just used some silver smooth Hammerite on mine, been on there a good 6 months with no issues. Still cleans up as good as new!

I used a high temperature metallic grey paint from an aerosol. It was from Halfords I know that, not sure what brand, I can have a look.

They came up rather well with just a bit of prep.

I painted the rockers and plenum chamber with some hammerite from a tin. Added a bit of detailing in blue in an inspired artistic moment.

Again with the amount of grease and grime on them it's all about the prep.
