Hi, anyone any idea on the rules for MOT regarding bodywork holes. On the lower corner sections at back of rear wheels, one side has a hole straight through and the other side had a long piece hanging off. Ive ground this off and tidied it up but was wondering whether this and some filler will pass an MOT as its not in a major structural area.
It will get new corners put on at some stage.
Also I want to get my alloys cleaned up. They have 205/60/13 tyres on.
Can i fit some standard cheap Ford fitment steel rims from a breakers while I get them done
thanks

Re: MOT bodges
As long as its not structural or dangerous to passers by/other cars cyclists etc
And its not within 30cm of a suspension part you should be good, maybe patch with duct tape until it gets sorted.
You can fit some ford standard steels while you get yours refurbished as they will most likely fit but might not turn/be drivable since the offset will be off for FWD cars so get them done quickly

Re: MOT bodges
Mine failed it's last MOT on a hole near the front mount for the leaf spring, When I had the car up on the ramp, it dawned on me....... Without that hole being there, you wouldn't have a way to undo the front bolt...... Quick check of the haynes and it was meant to be there...... So quick march down to the garage, with underbody pic in hand..... And PASS!
So MOT testers do get it wrong sometimes.........
Also When I got my Wheels done I bought a set of Sierra 14" 7 spokes from Fleabay with decent tread on the tyres for £40...... And sold them for £60

Far too many people have forgotten the joy of just going out to drive!

Used some 14" steels from a Mk6 escort to get mine though MOT while I was waiting for tyres. Wasn;t pretty but it worked.
