thats wrong.

there should be a tube that comes off the tank to the back end of the pump, then end with the connectors on for power has the connector on to send fuel to the fuel accumulator. thats deffo not a 2.8 one.

That looks like an 'in-tank' one to me. Definitely not what you want!

The original bosch part number for the pump you need is,

0 580 254 910.

This is the one that came with my 2.8i inkection tank.

I have bought a sytec replacement which is the equivilant to the bosch unit.

Not used it yet but it was identical to the bosch pump.

I saw some of the cheap ones and decided against them, the sytec one was half the price of the bosch but have used them in uni and they seem ok.

I have just started to get my car back after putting a refreshed 2.8i eng in, been off road for 4 yrs
I put 3 gal in, tried to start no fuel

I bought a new pump fitted works off battery
how much fuel do I need to get fuel to pump?

I have since taken tank off and swirled the fuel round and empty it out, still has a galv coat inside, no sign of silt etc

When I had car up on stands the outlet pipe let out 2/3 of a gallon

So I am guessing I would need 5 gal in at least, or is there a blockage?

have you connected the wires on the pump round the right way ie is the pump trying to suck fuel from the engine back to the tank? Made that mistake myself once.

If your old fuel pump relay is dead, I'll happily repair it for the price of a drink. :)

Hi,
is it possible to change electric connectors from old pump to new one?

There are two long connectors (black and yellow) on old original pump and you only click counterpart connector on it. Like this:

But new pump has only thread to fit with O-ring connector with nut. Like this:

Thanks

I hope somebody can answer your question as I've wondered if that was possible.

I hope too! Because I don't want to cut original wires to change conectors.
That original black and yellow connectors look like have some little movement against pump. But I don't try anything to prevent breaking it.
