are the headlights different in the facelift/prefacelift model?
if so are they interchangeable?

Yes they are different and you sort of can change them over but the face lift are wider so you would need to change the bonnet as well, otherwise the bonnet bulges that go over the lights will probably hit the wider lights or at least cover them a bit.
