I'm just wondering is there a step by step guide on changing the timing belt anywhere on this site? I find the Haynes manual unclear.
Much appreciated,
Chris

Buy the correct belt- double check it.
Remove the fan belt.
Arrange all of your tools, place the new belt in clean hot water to expand it slightly. Remove the belt covers. 10mm screws. Undo the crankshaft pulley bolt. Pull off the crankshaft sprocket. Lightly refit the crackshaft bolt. Cut the belt along it's length- use a Stanley Knife or similar, cut it so the front has two thirds and the back band is only one third of the width of the usual belt. You will need to turn the engine, cut a section, turn the engine, cut a section and so on. Use the crankshaft bolt to turn the engine. Once you have cut all the way around and have two separate bands, slide off the front two thirds. DO NOT TURN THE ENGINE!!! Take the new belt and slide it over the pulleys, sprockets, tensioners etc.
The cam/ crank timing will be left unchanged!!!
Snip the old band and then slide the belt onto the sprockets fully.
Remove the crank bolt, refit the crank bottom pulley. Tighten the bolt.
Smile!

Thanks a million. Hope to get this done in the next week or so!
