Front Springs

Post by guitarswet »

I have just had the front springs replaced on my capri and noticed that the 'ears' on the top mounts no longer line 90 degrees to the wheels as stated in the Haynes manual. Is this something to worry about? The springs are 30% uprated and the car drives in a nice straight line!

Mark, I have just bought a pair of new springs from Burton Power, and the way they are coiled means that when the spring is in the bottom seat and the top 'cap' thing (whatever you call it) is fitted, I have exactly the same 'problem' you have described. I cannot see what difference it makes, but I'll let you know if everything is OK once I get the struts back on the car!

These new springs have made quite a difference but they are a bit 'twangy' when moving the steering side to side when stationary. Is there any way to get rid of this noise ?

You could try placing rubber hose ( Garden hose ) over the top and bottom of the coil to stop the metal to metal contact.

hench there will be no noise
