Need info in 2.8L fuel injection

Post by Brian Colvin » Sun Jun 25, 2000 11:03 pm

I'm rebuilding a 2.8L V6 from a 79. I would like to know if fuel injection was made for this engine, and if so, where I might find a good setup. Here in the United states, the Capri's and 2.8Ls are not very popular, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is Blighty (and also the Fatherland obviously) the 2.8 engine was fitted with the Bosch K-jetronic (or K-jet for short) mechanical fuel injection system. This setup was used in the aptly named Capri 2.8 Injection model, and gave about 160bhp, 0-60 in 7.9s and a top speed of 130mph.
Bosch K-jet was used in many European Fords in the 80s (such as the Escort XR3i and RS-turbo, the Sierra XR4 and all the 2.8i Granadas up until the MkIII Granada was launched in 1985)

The installation of the system in the Capri was very very similar to that in the Granada. If you are trying to source parts from the USA, I reckon you should speak to a Capri specialist in the UK, who can probably strip the injection system parts from a 2.8i Capri and then send them to you. The actual bulk of the parts will probably not make it too expensive to send. Either that or come over here on Holiday!!
