Firstly , don't laugh, i know it's c**p, but if you go to http://fordcapri.20m.com/photo3.html i have put up a few of my Capri photos, one of which has got a , as you referred to it a "Mad Max" style thingy sticking out the bonnet, so it has been done and it does work.

Sorry mate, can't remember, it was at one of the Capri shows about 3 years ago, if you speak to CCI they may be able to tell you.

from the very small photo !!!!!

the supercharger has a long snout from the drive this means that it is not a GMC 6 or 8 / 71 which are the common superchargers for yank motors. SO its probably a wade ro34 blower which does have a long snout, these blowers are sized for smaller (3 litre or so) engines like Rover V8 or Essex V6.
I had a look at the photo for clues like the distributor position or the huge oil filler neck on Rover rocker covers but its too blury for my old eyes !!!!
