I remember someone saying that it isn't possible to fit XR3i or RS alloys to a Capri... will any of the modern brands of alloys (BBS, Fox etc.) fit a 1.6 laser? I would like 16" or 17" sized ones if possible. How can I tell if they'd fit or not?

It was probably me who said XR3 wheels won't fit.
You can't really put any wheels from a front wheel drive car on a Capri, because the offset between hub and wheel rim will be wrong. Look at the wheels on the yellow MkI on this page and you can see there is a good few inches of 'dish' from the outer edge of the rims to the inside of the wheel. Now look at XR3 wheels and you'll see there is buggar all offset.
The reasons for this difference are rather long winded and I shan't go into them here.
