Essex V6 engine number location?

Hi there

I need to register and roadworthy my car and want to check that the engine number matches the papers. Where do I find the engine number? I can't seem to see it anywhere on the front of the block.

Anyone know where I should look?

Well, my Essex-engine is in my garage and at least one number is in the back of the cylinder block, on the passanger's side where the gearbox and engine is connected. Hope this helps.
