Vinylroof or not...?

Post by Marco »

Hi Mark,

well, I voted no, and I would like to give you the reason for it:

I£m a bit militant in that classic cars should be kept as original as possible.

Apart from that, what if the car starts rusting again below the Vinyl...?

I don£t think it really suits your laser, I much more liked it on Capri I and II.

This is of course only my opinion, what do others think about that?

Cheers
Marco

No

Vinyl roofs were borderline acceptable on the Mk1 (whwere they mostly looked OK). On a Laser it will look, well, not quite right. Especially a white laser with a front spoiler.

I too agree

I must admit that I like to see Capris looking original (even if they do have slightly less obvious mods like uprated suspension). I see no reason why rotted metal can not be replaced with new? If you ever read Practical Classics magazine you'll see what I mean. Some of these wrecks are restored to concours condition.
Do you have any photos of the area in question?
