speedo nightmares

I have a '85 2.8i special that has a non functioning speedo.after replacing the cable it still refuses to work and on closer inspection the gearbox is not turning the cable!
The cable is fitted correctly.
The speedo is OK too.
Is there any way of replacing the speedo drive at the gearbox end?

yep opposite the where the cable goes in is a bung about 1 inch in diameter knock it out and the drive will come out
ps get the same number of teeth on the new drive
