Alarms & steering wheel lock devices etc
Alarms & steering wheel lock devices etc
Can anyone recommend a DIY fit immobiliser or alarm/immobiliser? (not that anyone seems to notice a car alarm except if it's outside your house!)
I've heard Disklok are the best steering wheel-type lock - anyone use one, recommend them?
thanks
Richard

Steering locks are easily removed by...
making a cut through the steering wheel with a hacksaw, the metal ring in a steering wheel is usuall pretty small in diameter. If someone wants your car they'll take it. However there are dumb theives out there so it is a good deterent for joyriders.
you aint getting a disklok off that way!
no chance, covers the whole wheel at the front and quite far round the back, pretty tightly too......

Theres also the Momo Thing
I think its momo anyway, they do a detachable Boss for your steering wheel ! just unclip the wheel and off you go The Disklock did take 3 mins 40 secs to bypass at a ABI test i helped with , and the thatcham boys took 3 mins 20 secs, on average a theif will spend less than 2 mins trying to take a car , so any device that can withstand more that 3 mins direct attack passes the highest grade

take your ignition appart when you leave the car
i take my rotor arm when i park in certain places.
ive gone for serious overkill....
...as i have had a car stolen in the past. I have fuel line lock, battery cut off switch, alarm system with pager that sends a signal to me asking for help:P, brake line lock, a snap off steering wheel on the way and the car is about to be delocked in favour for remote central locking.
Fort Knox then Phoenix?
can't say I blame you there...

A Capri is for life... NOT just for Christmas
unfortunately so..
...the area i live in is "unsavoury" to say the least. And seeing is my car is pretty much one of kind it attracts a lot of attention. Already had people try to break into it on two seperate occasions, the time I caught a guy on his own trying to screwdriver the drivers side lock. Needless to say he limped home feeling very sorry for himself and I have a new screwdriver for my collection
If they will try that with the car looking the way it does now, what are they gonna do when the car looks like a sex machine??? lol
