What?
I know there are more important things going on in the world, but this is the rant and rave section and this experience was quite annoying....
I found a German website selling diecast models that are quite hard to get hold of in this country. I added a few items to my basket, only to find at checkout that there are 240 countries and territories in a drop down list of places they will ship to but, annoyingly, the UK is not among them. I e-mailed the company and received a very polite reply from their representative, who informed me that they are unwilling to ship to the UK because of "ongoing concerns over Brexit". Fair enough, but Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Syria and Yemen are on the list of countries that they are willing to send parcels to. The last time I checked, they have more "concerns" going on than us!
Is this what we're going to have to put up with from now on?
Andrew.

Re: What?
dont spose you know anyone in Iraq, Somalia , Afghanistan,Yemen or Syria that could forward it on ?
Yeah , I get a bit shitted off, when I go thru the drama of buying something and then getting an email saying the sale couldnt be processed because the seller doesnt send to NZ, actually when I think about it it has only been stuff out of the USA .

Re: What?
Trust you !
I wouldn't have thought sending stuff from the good 'ole US of A to NZ would be a problem. Sure it looks like a long way on a map of the world, but I hear there's a shortcut if the planes fly West instead of East !

Re: What?
Was that for VAT ? I think it's got to be paid on all new goods coming into the country.Jasonmarie wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 10:08 am Might be to do customs as my order of parts from the USA had a £27 customs charge

Re: What?
I also read somewhere that there are new rules on VAT on stuff sold in the EU so I'm sure that will shaft us some too!

My dad recently had a new exhaust made up for his Celica, but the cost was almost 50% higher than last year because Brexit means that the stainless steel that is being used now has to be purchased from the UK (and therefore is much higher) because no-one will supply Stainless from the EU or it costs too much to import it now or something - I got bored of listening

Re: What?
Well mine was a statement, yours was countering. Usually the person countering would add something to, well counter. You just did the equivalent of the schoolyard "No u". It's ok though, I've not met one person who can coherently explain why they thought Leave was a good idea, so didn't really expect much in the way of detail. You've aways seemed way smarter than the average Brexiteer though so was prepared to be surprised.

Re: What?
I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to buy an Avdelok/Lokbolt riveter and found a German manufacturer who made what I was looking for. I made an enquiry but they don’t ship to the UK (no mention of Brexit though!). They did however point me in the direction of a US distributor, who as it transpired could have one delivered to my door for less than the manufacturer’s list price…. All’s well that ends well as the saying goes!Andrew 2.8i wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 9:06 pm I know there are more important things going on in the world, but this is the rant and rave section and this experience was quite annoying....
