Original 2.8i list price

Post by ESSEXV6ESSEX »

Hi, does anybody know the list price when new in 1981 for the 2.8i? Something tells me £7995 but I have a feeling that was for later run out specials.

I`ve got a Parkers price guide from April `81, and although it doesn`t show 2.8 (not yet launched?) but the 3.0 is £7334 so maybe not too far out?

Ooh what a great thing to have ;)

They were the private buyers bible back in the 80's & 90's, before the interweb thats how you valued a car

Interesting for me because mine is a March 1981, dont suppose you have scanned all of the Capri pages have you, would be great to add to my info folder for Biscuit.

Andy, of the turbos as above there are 35 left on the road, total 395 all models. Actually, considering the small volumes sold that`s not a bad survival rate if you compare to, say, Montegos?

Hi Steve,
You hardly see them around now, and with that low a number on the road it's hardly surprising.

I liked Japanese cars of that time as they felt well built, better quality and more reliable some than UK cars.

Sold it for a more practical Cavalier SRi 130 when my son was a few months old!

Yes 1988 E reg.
Good car too, drove it quite hard and did nearly 200 miles a week at that time.

Early to mid 90s, I remember work mates would go to Empress Car Supermarket in South Wales to buy the ex rep Vauxhalls mainly Mk3 Cavaliers cheap.

I had 2 Vectras between 2004 and 2008. The SRi 150 drank oil but didn't appear to burn it :? The 2.5 V6 I had no issues!

Anyway better stop the Vaux.... talk on a Capri forum
