God help us?

Post by andyd »

With a second Covid wave and more lockdowns on the horizon, fingers crossed it doesn't get as bad as it was.

If everyone gets on with the rules, stop ignoring the laws (albeit confusing at times) we will get through it.

Unlike the people of Yemen who don't believe in the virus, and that God is helping them :? Imo, all his belief does is cause problems

So :goodluck: stay safe and hope 2021 is a better year for us all, and I can catch up with some of you again :)

At least we have the forum  :woot:

Things are going crazy in India too.....5 million cases and they are reducing restrictions . Here we have mobs of religeous fuck pots accosting people in public and telling them to ignore restrictions ......"god will help you all" they say ,totally oblivious to the fact it must have been him that dumped it on us in the 1st place ....if you believe .
Sometimes I talk to myself ... and we both have a good laugh

UK.
Population : 68 M
Daily coronavrus cases (15th September) : 3,103

Yemen.
Population : 30 M
Coronavirius cases 15th September: 2

Perhaps the people of Yemen are on to something*.....

 to that.

Let us all hope that we can avoid another nationwide lockdown.
Stay safe everybody,
Andrew.

* Although a population density of only 57 people per square km in Yemen compared to the UK's 279 probably explains Yemen's lesser rate of transmission and lower amount of daily cases.

Their testing capabilities may also be inferior to ours, hence deceptive statistics.

We need somebody to help us!

We’re facing economic armageddon and untold misery all in the name of keeping us safe from a virus which really doesn’t appear all that dangerous, to the majority of people anyway. Death figures basically made up, and an infection rate based on a test which is so unreliable even Matt Hancock yesterday (inadvertently) acknowledged could be generating over 80% false positives (it could be as high as 95%). And infections aren’t cases, which many people don’t seem to understand....

2021 is likely to be a worse year for many than 2020 has been, I honestly believe this is just the beginning....

As per my previous post Tom, they’d be going some to be inferior to ours!

Regarding the reliability (or lack of) of the test and therefore infection rate data, this is the Health Secretary’s little ‘slip up’:

https://mobile.twitter.com/JuliaHB1/sta ... 66086?s=20

The methodology for calculating false positives does indeed appear correct, it’s what SAGE use and is explained properly in the BMJ. It’s a bit difficult to understand at first, but to provide a mathematically simple example:

False Positive Rate (FPR) = 1%.

Tests conducted = 100,000.

1% of 100,000 = 1000.

Positive tests = 2000.

1000 is 50% of 2000 therefore FPR = 50%.

The key thing to understand is that the 1% FPR is taken from the total number of tests, not the number of positive tests, which is what Matty boy tried to insinuate before he realised he’d been caught out.

I just wanted to explain why I’m sceptical in case anybody thinks I’m spouting nonsense....
