Do you know, I have absolutely no idea. I think it's the 2rd time.. might be 3st. Definitely not 1nd.

Did you ever see that shelf in my garage that had over 20 assorted instrument panels on it?
I could usually provide one that closely matched the mileage of the original.

Not that I would ever condone it and this is purely hypothetical of course, but when I ran that Mk3 pick-up conversion I had, IF it had been insured for 3000 miles a year, and IF I had three instrument panels that read the same mileage, then I COULD have done 9000 miles ;)

Over here diesel vehicles used on the road are subject to road user charges (ruc's) and you have to buy them in advance and they use the vehicles speedo to measure the distance traveled . Modern electric speedo's were a god send to the frugal motorist with a variety of means to quickly reconnect the speedo should one get pulled over ( not unusual to be send ½ K up the road and back to verify a working odometer ). One friend has his hooked up to the interior light switch , another to the air con button . Milage is recorded at 6 monthly warrant of fitness tests so it pays to keep it believable ......like it doesnt pay to wear out a set of tires in only 500 km's

That's the thing with these damned humans, they have this annoying habit of not wanting to be controlled and finding solutions to problems.
