Thanks for digging these out. I wonder if any of these cars have survived.

Was thinking the same. Liked the Mk3, except for the interior ..Not_Anumber wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 11:46 am Thanks for digging these out. I wonder if any of these cars have survived.

Thought that Mk3 (3.0 turbo) was fantastic as a kid. Funny how times change, it was all about the visuals at the time, crazy paint & spoilers etc. That first Mk1 was running a 1.3!Jasonmarie wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 12:34 pm Funny as that is real 70s retro as a kid I would have loved a Capri like that now not sure . General Grabber tyres, the opposite of low profile in any sense. I had a set on my first car a Vauxhall Firenza in the early 80's, Remember spending ages with a small brush re whitening the letters.

General Grabbers, they were the tyres of choice then, usually wrapped around Wolfrace slot alloy wheelsNot_Anumber wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 7:37 pm General Grabber tyres, the opposite of low profile in any sense. There was a white Firenza in my street back then, smart looking sporty coupe, stood out amongst the Cortina’s / Beetle’s / Marina’s that seemed to be everywhere.

AAC690J - tax expired July 1985, presume scrapped.
YBH626M - tax expired August 1999, presume scrapped.
EWE219H - tax expired December 1993, presume scrapped.
YMO88H - No DVLA record.
VHK497S - MOT expired 7th July 2015, on SORN.
YHJ752T - No DVLA record.
2EPF - Registration currently on a Mercedes SL.
YRK605H - Tax expired June 1983, presume scrapped.
VHK497S, the ex-Ford fleet / Brands Hatch pace car still survives. There is also a slim chance that the "Pearls of Wisdom" mark 3 is still around with a different registration.

Re: Hot Car Capris
Thanks for checking Andrew. That first car, although not my thing, took an awful lot of work to create and then looks like it was scrapped just 6 years later. It’s good to see the press car is still around, hopefully the Mk3 too.
Re: Hot Car Capris
Some nice cars there to be sure to be sure.
I'm the one who leaves all those shoes in the carriageway.

Re: Hot Car Capris
It does look like a lot of work went into it. They did all that then stuck the rear lights off a Datsun 120Y Coupe on there to finish it off !Caprifan Rob wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 9:10 am That first car, although not my thing, took an awful lot of work to create

Saying that when I picked my Capri up from Tickover in March there was a stunning yellow mk1 Capri with the twin headlights back yes the back lights were Datsun 120YAndrew 2.8i wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 10:30 amIt does look like a lot of work went into it. Re: Hot Car Capris
Brilliant stuff. Not my cup of tea but really can appreciate them as that's how many looked isn't it. The days of Dukes of Hazard and Evil Kneivil (not sure I have spelt that right but can't be bothered to look) enjoy seeing them now really just wouldn't want to own one. MK2 Capris really look the dogs these days but almost opposite to what we see, would never have wanted one back then. Good work on the registrations. Its great to see these old mags. One thing I dislike though more then a Rover V8 in a Capri is a Red Top XE in an Escort. Once a Ford always a Ford.

Cheers, I agree about the engines too. My sons brother in law has a Mk2 escort with red top. Doesn’t do it for me either.ESSEXV6ESSEX wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2020 9:25 pm Its great to see these old mags.
