Peter paid a FLYING visit...
So other day I was just tidying up the engine bay a bit removing an old alarm siren box and decided to take a video (as you do ) and low and behold Peter flew overhead in his twin pinto homemade Spitfire

At the risk of exposing myself to ridicule ,I gotta ask , what is a twin pinto homemade spitfire ? Pix ?
The real thing provokes so many emotions I try not to think about them and the men and women who built, fought and died (and survived ) in them unless Im in a wee corner somewhere by myself .
WW2 warbirds are probly the coolest things on the planet. Hard to think so many were just discarded after the war , spose people had better things to do then.

Don't worry about ridicule its just Nick and Jason continuing to promote the pinto as the best engine in the world when really it is one of theseMc Tool wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2020 7:49 pm At the risk of exposing myself to ridicule ,I gotta ask , what is a twin pinto homemade spitfire ? Pix ?

I'm with you on the warbirds, which is also why I get a little good natured ribbing Hamish but there is of course more to it than just the aircraft. If you find yourself in a wee corner this may be of interest, or not! https://www.photoblog.com/inreachoftheskies/

Re: Peter paid a FLYING visit...
My parents live about 5km out of Wanaka ,not far from sir Tim ( poor bloke has had rotten luck lately ) , and there is a good warbirds museum there ( been there a lot of times ) . We can sit outside and get the free show at easter ( warbird show ) as most of the planes fly over their home during practice and the show .
We ( me, Di ,brother and his ,ahem wife ) drag raced a Catalina up the lake as it took off . Lake was like glass and we had all got up at 6am to go water skiing and this thing was parked up way the hell out in the middle of the lake so we goes over for a butchers and someone on the plane buried the boot and the race was on . We lasted about 100yards . Rich wankers having a champagne breakfast in a Catalina .....best seats were about 50 yards off its port side

Reminds me of this

Yeah, I would love to do Wanaka. I have dropped a few hints but having done Warbirds Down Under at Temora a couple of years ago the better half is not so keen on doing such a long flight again. We'll see.
