Re: Wonder what people will make of this Barn discovery
It's a shame it's not in better condition. It's not a car that excites me but i would be excited for the owner if it was better preserved, As it would be a bit more special, rather than being just another rusty pos found in a shed.
My opinion from a 90's boy who knows nothing about allegros

Di was digging in the garden a while ago , found where someone had buried a pet years ago , she just filled in the hole and moved on ........same thing really. Just shut the door .

Austin Allegro or the Austin Allagro as they were affectionately known!

My best mate had a 1750 SS Allaggro back in the day, It was poo brown olive colour and he quite correctly called it "The flying turd".
It really did go like a rocket and in fairness was quite comfortable and reliable as well. Like them or not, this one just found really is worth preserving just for the rarity of it.

There are two parked within a few minutes walk from me flat, and in another area there is a guy with 4 or 5 in his front garden!

What a waste of Ziebart, there's a reason it was left there, no one wanted it. Sorry, couldn't get excited about an Allegro, ever, weigh it in

I spose someone should keep one .
Gotta say tho , one of the boys had a Austin thing , like a Maxi but with a 6 cylinder motor. We did some miles in that thing , dip the lights in Te anau ( drive forward down the boat ramp till the headlights were under water ) , punch up with the locals at the pie cart , police escort out of town. We only gave up using it coz everywhere we went in Southland we got the "attitude test " from the cops . Sold it to some god botherer and laughed about that for ages.
