So let's assume I wanted to buy a near-mint Capri Injection what would I pay? I know a lot of the time people seem to talk down prices in the Ford scene, which is the opposite of the Porsche community where people like to protect their investment and this clouds a lot of comment.
I see dealers on Pistonheads pricing what appear to be good 280s for £25-45k which seems a large swing. Obviously a car is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, but what is a fair price at a dealer or from an enthusiast?
I've seen this Injection Special up for £28,000 - that seems top money for one but I'd be happy if that's a good car for the money. So the two questions are:
What's the right price for a near-mint (1) Injection Special and (2) a 280?
As you say, sellers will ask for whatever they can get, buyers will pay what its worth to them, Insurance companies will offer what they feel the market dictates, put the details of the cars in the valuation tool & see what it says & report back Steve
Things are a bit different here . If you have a capri youd be mad to sell it. Im struggling to remember the last time I saw a capri on the road . I will not ever sell mine . I turned down 20 grand and a tandem axle trailer for mine . I so so so regret selling my escorts ( mk1 2 door and a mk2 2 door ) . We nearly blew our savings to get the mk1 back for 20 times what we sold it for 10 years ago.

I would buy the better Capri with a pinto , you may have to pay extra but well worth the extras , did you know that Henry Ford JNR said The Pinto is “ The Best Engine In The World “ it was mention in a book last year .

The same site has a 280 with 57k miles for £35,000 & one with 20k advertised for £45,000 (now sold).
These all look to be in amazing condition, but as always you have to see them & justify the price to yourself.

Hmm, well £35,000 isn't exactly a lot of money these days but once it gets £40+ I think I'd just get another 911. So that got me thinking about what would be the money I'd want to pay and it came in at £30K. Then I started letting mind wander.... I don't need or want RHD as I don't live in the UK but know there are more UK enthusiasts than elsewhere, by book sells 82% in the UK for example. So I had a brainwave, a car that would appeal to Brits and also LHD... An RS2600 or the German turbo Mark III. Bingo!
