Whilst reading through a Police Drivers Handbook recently, I was happy to see that an apparent red Capri is being used to illustrate some points in the diagrams -

It's a fascinating manual actually, sort of an addition/alternative to the highway code. For example it states that when reversing it's an advantage to wedge your left arm behind the passenger seat and reverse one handed whilst looking through the rear window.

Although many of us do that anyway, I'm quite sure that if you did that on your driving test it would be a fail or a black mark!

I'm not sure if it's still the case now but I was told by my driving instructor who was himself an ex-police officer that during your test you are actually allowed to unstrap your seat belt and turn around to carry out reversing manoeuvres

On country roads at night youre also allowed to undo your seat belt, turn around and apply a well deserved beating to the gentleman in the back seat before setting him down at any number of roadside ditches.

That also sounds like it's in a police handbook!

Ive always thought the cops have a secret sect that "deals" with the rapists, paedos etc that arent sentenced due to some clerical error or legal oversight that sees them released without charge..

I mean... it would be very tempting wouldnt it, to sort it out yourselves rather than having some dangerous suspect free to commit further crimes.

You'd certainly hope so. One to contribute to if they ever come round with a collection tin.
