Anyone who hasn't already got a Janspeed system may well be interested.

Price and pics may help.

The quality of these will be really good. As soon as one is ready I will get pictures up. Price wise I’m thinking about £450-500

Seems a reasonable price. That's for twin system that sleeves over o/e kidney box downpipes or sports manifolds I presume?

Just a thought, you might want to put up a video for sound purposes so people know what to expect.

Hi,
Anybody who gets parts made to help keep our cars on the road should be applauded.
Out of interest, is the price quoted for a stainless system to mate with an original manifold? That sounds like a reasonable price, I'm sure there will be some interest.
I might be completely wrong here, but as with anything where you are supplying to a limited number of customers, you might find that demand is more of a steady trickle than a sudden wave of orders.
:goodluck: with your venture.

Andrew.

Thank you. A company I use to work for about 10 years ago use to sell loads of these. So iv searched the net and not really found many places selling them so I thought I’d give them ago. Just trying to gain a bit of interest really. These will mate up to original it will be 2x rears 2x middles and 2x front adaptor pipes. I will look into making the manifolds soon I will try and get a pattern

I imagine they did. Unfortunately, not so long ago Janspeed announced that they were due to discontinue stainless exhausts for the 2.8. This encouraged a bit of a surge of sales from anybody who was contemplating buying a stainless system.

Have you thought of also making one for the Pinto engined cars? Nobody makes those at the moment, so there could be a lot of potential customers out there in a market that hasn't been tapped into for quite a long time.

Andrew.

Oh right I see that’s why I couldn’t see the janspeed one I remember seeing them a few years ago.
No I have never looked into the pinto engine cars. Im willing to make anything and buy patterns if I think it will be worth it. I have done the classic fords cortinas escorts zephyr and they have all sold really well.

That's the thing with stainless systems, once you have one you probably won't need another.

Janspeed now make them when they have over 5 orders I think, and only available from Janspeed.

As Andrew says, if you can do Pinto systems too you may have alot more interest.

Good investment for any car, especially those that aren't used regularly.

Interested to see how it goes :)

As a pinto owner who has a stainless, it took ages to get one made, nowhere seems to stock them for a Capri so all had to be custom made eventually

Janspeed also don't make them now unless you order for units minimum, tried them first off when I started looking a year and a bit ago, they said then that they were ending production for all Capri systems

I tried to see if there was any interest for stainless pinto systems at the time to see if there was enough to get Janspeed to make them but at the time there wasn't any response

Sounds like it might be worth me looking into the pinto exhaust as well then. I will try and buy a pattern so I can start making them in stainless steel.

That looks like an original system - the sportex has bigger pipes, not sure if the layout is much different though

Apart from the smaller rear silencer, the Sportex looks like the same layout https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sportex-Ford ... Sw0Nlbni-2

If you make them to o/e spec that would be the best, but maybe have 2 different size rear silencers options for louder or quiet??

Don't think that system is original, at least not all of it. The rear silencer has "Bosal" on it.

Also, don't forget the 1.6 and 2-litre systems are slightly different. I believe the 2-litre has a longer front pipe.

Hi Margaret.
I saw it was a Bosal but after checking the ad it says 1.6, 2.0 and 2.8

The Sportex one I put up states it fits 1.6 and 2.0 :?

According to Tickover (First 4 pics) you are right about the 1.6 and 2.0 being slightly different https://www.tickover.co.uk/shop/contents/en-uk/d83.html
And the 5th pic shows a rolled rear box that I'm sure is correct. Sure these are Klarius systems.

Imo, some homework or phonecalls required on the Pinto systems before any are made.

Andy

The reason I know there is a difference between 1.6 and 2.0 is that I once took my 2-litre Laser to Kwik-Fit to get a new exhaust fitted. They cut mine off and laid the new one on the floor beneath the car, then I heard them say, “Oh no, it’s the wrong one”. Turns out they’d ordered a 1.6 system. I had to leave the car there overnight whilst they pulled out all the stops to get me the right system in a hurry. That was Bosal and it lasted 15 years.

Unfortunately, I believe Bosal have since stopped producing these exhausts. Klarius are probably the only pattern suppliers left, so you may be right in thinking that is what Tickover are selling. (I see their illustrations suggest the middle sections are different too.)

If I’d known you wanted a template, I had a genuine Ford system in my lounge earlier this year. It is now on the car. The back box is flattened, the same shape as the middle box, and is a nicer fit than the Bosal. The pipe exits higher up the box rather than from the centre, so gives a neater appearance.

I have photos here if only I can fathom out how to put them up.

Hope all this is helpful.

Margaret
