Heater Motor subsitute

Seeing as we all help each other out, Ive just fitted a Mercedes Benz 0130007027 Heater motor in my ford Capri, Exact match to the Bosch and works perfect at a Fraction! Of the cost

A pair of gloves and a hat is an even cheaper alternative.....

Bleedin hell !!!! Even for this forum this thread has been redirected rather too quickly. In the space of just two replies we are already talking about whether a hat needs a blinking bobble on it !!!!

Personally, I'd be wary about using incorrect parts in the Capri. The two parts might be externally similar, but if they really were interchangeable, wouldn't they just have the same Bosch part number? Is there a possibility of electrical issues, maybe overheating, by fitting the incorrect unit?
For the purposes of research, I've just checked and the approximate prices are as follows:
Bosch heater motor for Capri = £65
Bosch heater motor for MB = £45
For the sake of £20 I'm not sure I'd want to take the chance....

Edit: If anybody does want to chance their luck by saving a few more pounds, a compatible aftermarket replacement motor is even cheaper than the Bosch MB item.

Andrew. £20 diff is just not worth chancing it. This guy reckons its fine but how long has he been using it for ??
I personally would always be prepared to pay a bit more for better peace of mind the deffo correct part is used. Indeed my ongoing underside resto by Tickover has revealed a few 'corners cut'/incorrect parts from previous owners but thankfully Gus abd Clive have been doing s great job for me

I was out in the Capri last weekend and a soft top Minor 1000 came the other way. The hood was up but the driver was wearing a woolly bonnet. I did say to the wife later that it was probably a necessity of driving a car like that

it is funny how we ended up on hats ....
When I first read the post Nick I thought you had fitted a new heater motor and my first thought was , Christ it’s a right pain in the backside to do I would just left it to Tickover
Now back to hats
