I was on Facebook years ago but let's just say people all of a sudden want to expand thier friends list and to me it's a popularity contest, why would you want to friends or be interested in what I am doing when we either don't socialise or haven't spoken for ten years, I just don't get it so I came off it. What I will say is Facebook must be the place to be as forums are quiet and have been for some time. If I go back on and I have contimplated it I will go on as another name and view what I want without getting fake friend requests or pc challenged.

It's not just the forums that are quiet Mark, there's bugger all of any real interest on the facebook pages either!

Ah right, people are probably to busy buying lego political correctness edition or the iPhone 50GTi. I have noticed car prices have dropped but so has the cars that are for sale. Maybe that time of year.

I've never signed up to Facebook. When I tell people that, they look at me with incredulity that somebody can manage to live their life without it!
I did sign up to Friends Reunited (remember that?) some years ago, but I used a fake profile so I could view stuff without people getting in contact with me.
My thinking is that if there is a person in real life that you haven't been in contact with for years, perhaps there is a good reason for that... :) .

Well, I am on Facebook. I use it to keep in touch with family dotted all over the place as well as friends. Again, dotted all over the place! I use it as a business tool as well having a dedicated page for my business. More a reference point than advertising.
I think it’s a good way to keep in touch, organising meets etc as a lot of stuff gets lost in forums. I come on here every now and then and can’t keep up with all the new threads. Now that’s a good thing as it shows a healthy amount of activity.
I know there’s a lot of crap on Facebook but you just ignore it.

I agree, a lot of my friends are scattered around the country, and it's a useful tool to keep in touch with folk.

Jason - they were on a little while ago about checking names as a few unsavoury characters were using anonymous accounts to post vile stuff and intimidate folk, so I believe they went on a bit of a crusade making sure that people were using their name as their display name.

I'm with most of you, don't get me wrong I do have Facebook but I only use it to buy/sell car parts as I usually get a quicker responds from people but other than that, like fordperv said I couldn't give a shit about arseholes I went to school with or pictures of peoples food so stay off it.
The only places I actively check pretty much every day now are here, capripower and driftworks, life's alot simpler that way I find :)

Good on you.

I left Facebook 2 years ago and deleted my account.
It is pretty scandalous with regards to privacy and what or who it shares data with.
Read the T&cs carefully. It’s mindblowing how much info it believes it is entitled to demand from you.

The fact that zuckerberg feels he does not need to answer to any government summons with regard to it speaks volumes to me.

In its rawest form it’s a good idea. It’s just a great shame he sold out to the corporates for data harvesting.

I’m glad to be shot of it and am more physically social as a result.
